College & Career

WELCOME TO VHS COLLEGE AND CAREER CORNER!
My name is Barbara Brummett and I am the College, Career and Military Coordinator at Venus High School.
Venus ISD is actively promoting a college and career readiness program for K-12th grade.  It's never too early to plan for, save money for, and begin looking at college or career pathways.  Parent involvement is a MUST!  Talking to your student about various careers and discovering their interests helps a student narrow goals and to take courses during high school to better prepare for transition to post-secondary  success.
Begin a savings program - college can be expensive, but there are many resources for scholarships and financial aid so please never think that college is out of reach.  Every student can find the funding to attend any college - including Ivy League and large Universities.  Most universities have their own financial aid to ensure each student has the most money available.
The Venus campus counselors, AVID teachers, and I are available for any questions you may have along this journey.  Please feel free to call me at (972) 366-8815, or make an appointment with your campus counselor.  It truly takes a village to guide students toward their goals and Venus is a strong village that has many wonderfully trained staff to give every student the opportunity for success!

The scholarships below are available for seniors.  Local scholarships usually open in January and those applications will be emailed to seniors through their school email, as well as being announced at school and posted in the A Hall scholarship rack.  The ONLY way to be AWARDED a scholarship is to APPLY! Watch the deadlines.  Watch your school email!
