Helping Venus Students Prepare for College & Career

Venus ISD partners with Opportunity Resource Services (ORS) to provide Venus High School students with additional support as they prepare for college, careers, and life after high school.

Through Upward Bound Math & Science (UBMS), eligible students have access to academic support, college and career preparation, STEM experiences, and opportunities to explore life beyond high school.

What Is Upward Bound Math & Science?

Upward Bound Math & Science is a college-preparation program designed to help students build the academic skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to pursue education after high school.

For Venus students, the program provides opportunities to:

  • Get additional academic support and tutoring
  • Explore colleges, universities, and career pathways
  • Learn about financial aid and scholarships
  • Visit college campuses
  • Participate in STEM activities and experiences
  • Prepare for college entrance exams
  • Develop study, leadership, and other skills for life after high school
  • Participate in a summer college-preparation program

A Look Beyond High School

UBMS gives students opportunities to experience what life after high school can look like. Through college visits, career exploration, academic activities, and STEM experiences, students can begin connecting their interests and strengths to future opportunities.

Summer Opportunities

Students participating in UBMS can take part in a free summer program that combines academics, STEM activities, college preparation, and hands-on experiences.

The summer program gives students the opportunity to learn outside the traditional classroom while gaining experience that can help prepare them for college.

Who Is It For?

UBMS is designed for eligible high school students who are interested in preparing for college and exploring future opportunities, particularly students who may be the first in their family to attend college or who meet federal program eligibility requirements.
