Benchmark 3: Target Population

The P-TECH shall target and enroll historically underserved students. The campus must enable students who are at-risk of dropping out or those who wish to accelerate completion of high school to combine high school courses and college-level courses. Enrollment decisions shall not be based on state assessment scores, discipline history, teacher recommendations, parent or student essays, minimum grade point average (GPA) or other criteria that create barriers for student enrollment.

P-TECH Admission Policy and Enrollment Application

Pathway in Technology Early High School programs provide students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education the opportunity to earn 60 college credits and their associate’s degree at no cost.  The program must target students from underrepresented backgrounds, however, students of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply for admission.

In accordance with Texas Education Agency guidelines, enrollment decisions shall not be based on test scores, student discipline, teacher recommendations, essays, grade point average, or other criteria that create barriers for student enrollment.  Students must be enrolled in Venus Independent School District to apply.

Rising 9th grade students must submit their application and parent/student acknowledgement form before the posted deadline in order to join the program and attend summer leadership activities.  Students cannot make initial entry to the P-TECH at any other time unless they transfer from a similar P-TECH program in another district.
